I have worked with several cancer charities, both as an Artist and as a Creative Director. This is the second time I have worked with a charity which focuses on women with breast cancer, which is something close to my heart.
Now you may be wondering my connection to this disease, and why it is important to me. My Nanna died from breast cancer when I was very young. This tragic loss really affected my family, especially my mum as my Nanna was the keystone of the family.
I believe the charity work supporting and curing victims of cancer doesn’t just help the patient, it also helps the family and friends. And the odds of someone you know getting cancer are quite high, so it is a charity that everyone should take an interest in helping.
Now about the charity.
Holiday House was founded by Iris Dankner, an interior designer and 20 year breast cancer survivor who wanted to combine her passion for interior design and fundraising for breast cancer research. In the last decade, the event has raised over $1 million for breast cancer research and has become a staple of the New York design calendar, even producing offshoots in the Hamptons and NYC’s Soho district.
Setting up in two exquisite St John’s Wood townhouses, the Holiday House London will comprise of 25 rooms, each to be designed by a different interior designer. And, although its full designer roster hasn’t been released yet, Iris dropped the names of three of the event’s big hitters at the launch party saying “we have the best of the best”. Rita Konig, Nina Campbell and Nicky Haslam are all set to design rooms for the inaugural house. Farrow & Ball and 1stDibs are also listed as two of the event’s biggest sponsors.
All proceeds from Holiday House London will be granted to UK-based breast cancer research programmes.
Join us as we open the doors to an interior design showcase in our inaugural Holiday Home in London. In one of the most exclusive streets in London, leading interior designers will create rooms full of drama, luxury and beauty for you to enjoy. A unique experience, supporting breast cancer research.
Holiday House will run from 9 NOVEMBER – 10 DECEMBER 2017
