The Factory Project

Between Frames - The Factory Project

Curated by Kieran Idle & Meg Stuart - Gallery 32

09 OCTOBER 2021- 22 October 2021

Gallery No.32 presents a group show featuring new work by 15 artists/collectives as part of a ‘festival of curation’, The Factory Project, running alongside Frieze Week 2021.

The show explores the moment in between one thing and the next. The yard space will become representative of the liminal spaces and passing places that we all exist within. Meg Stuart and Kieran Idle grew Gallery No.32 out of the frozen months of lockdown 1, when everyone was suspended in ‘liminal time’. Between Frames presents this, with each monolithic door providing a potential exit/entrance into a space beyond.

The Factory Project is one of the largest curated events during London's Frieze week and will be held at the Thameside Industrial Estate, from 9 - 22 October 2021.

Transforming an out of use Factory in the Thameside Industrial Estate, The Factory Project is an independent museum-scale exhibition, showcasing the work of 10 curatorial partners and over 110 artists.

Conceived by curators Eric Thorp and Nicholas Stavri, The Factory Project has been initiated to support emerging to mid-career artists and curators. It is presented as a multi-disciplinary survey project that showcases 10 unique exhibitions within the larger factory site.

None of the curators invited to partner on this project have permanent bricks and mortar space, meaning The Factory Project offers them and the artists they are working with a rare opportunity – especially in London – to exhibit on a large scale in the 67,640 sq ft warehouse and yard complex.
